A kutatási téma leírása:

a.) Antecedents: Nowadays the application of high-performance polymer matrix composites with tailored mechanical properties and excellent damping abilities received higher importance thanks to their beneficial properties. IPN structure provides high mechanical/acoustic damping from matrix side. FDM as a special 3D printing method provides promising way to modify surface of reinforcement and to create IPN in fibre/matrix surface.
b.) Aim of research: During the PhD research after adaptation of modifier to FDM, influence of reinforcement on in-line 3D printing technology will be investigated. Printing patterns and amount of modifier will be studied, optimal technology will be selected for composite preparation. According to the results a new, tailored polymer composite material with excellent mechanical and acoustic damping abilities will be developed.
c.) Tasks, main items, necessary time:
• Literature review in the field of surface modification, and of interpenetrating networks (IPN) moreover 3D printing (approx. 6 months)
• Adaptation of modifier to FDM method, preparation of parameters (approx. 6 months)
• Analysis of influence of reinforcement on in-line FDM, study of effect of printing patterns, amount of modifier on reinforcement (approx. 18 months)
• Preparation of surface-modified composites by different manufacturing methods, comparison of methods. Selection of optimal technology (approx. 6 months)
• Sample preparation and investigation of produced composites, analysis of results and preparation of additional measurements (approx. 8 months)
• Finishing of PhD thesis, elaboration of application conditions (approx. 4 months)
d.) Required equipment: All the necessary testing and other equipment are available at the laboratory of the Department.
e.) Expected scientific results: Preparation of high-performance composite materials with increased mechanical and acoustic damping properties, adaptation of FDM for different reinforcements.
