Description of the research topic:

Filiform Lie algebras show up in many areas of mathematics. They are infinite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras of maximal class. Even though nilpotent Lie algebras are hard to study, this class is studied fairly well, with lots of surprising results and open questions.
