Description of the research topic:

There are some controversies in the literature in relation to the role competition plays in the psychological and somatic health of competing people. Some emphasize its beneficial effects but there are many more studies that indicate that competition can be detrimental to both. The existing research however is based on a concept of competition that does not allow to differentiate enough among competitive attitudes, therefore further studies are needed.
