Description of the research topic:

In offline handwritten text recognition we use only a static image for recognition – the online version of this problem uses dynamic information related to writing (speed, velocity, angle information). Different types of pens were invented for this purpose and different approximation algorithms were used for the analysis of the text.
The purpose of this research is to give a systematic overview of the existing hardware and analysis methods, and to achieve new results in one of the current research topics, like signature verification, forensic handwriting analysis, writer identification, online handwritten words and digits recognition.
