Description of the research topic:

The number of people with diabetes has markedly risen in the last decades. Diabetes prevalence has been rising more rapidly in middle- and low-income countries, even in Hungary.
Any risk factors associated with type 2 diabetes tend to cluster within the family. Promoting healthy behaviors and supportive environmental changes when the family is approached as a whole seems to be more effective. School-based interventions can reduce the incidence of overweight among children and can improve the global and mental health of the whole family as well.
Schools provide a critical setting for programming where health markers, such as body composition, chronic disease risk factors and fitness, can positively impacted.
The Horizon2020 funded Feel4Diabetes project (Developing and implementing a community-based intervention to create a more supportive social and physical environment for lifestyle changes to prevent diabetes in vulnerable families across Europe ). Feel4Diabetes has been started in six countries. Its main goal is to identify high-risk families for type 2 diabetes within the communities and invite the parents or other adult members of the family to attend out of school counseling sessions,
The expected results of the project are: to decrease body weight, if it is above normal, to increase water consumption (decreasing sweated beverages) to improve health awareness among participants.
This PhD research will be follow the guidance and will implement the methodology of the project and will contribute in all the stages, including field –work and also scientific desk-work.
