Description of the research topic:

2D multimedia and 3D virtual reality based games are not only developed for entertainment. The technology is starting to arise in different educational systems and in the modeling of industrial processes, especially in the case of presenting and practice of processes in dangerous sites. Developers of these applications must take account of accessibility as without this they discriminate against some users. One of the key questions of 2D and 3D virtual worlds is whether the users (including those living with disabilities and the elderly generation) can use these games easily or not. Another question is the rapid development of user interaction devices. The currently available interaction devices differ a lot in terms of accuracy and price (e.g. cave, different wearable sensors, usage of smart device sensors, eye trackers).
The aim of this proposal is twofold: one of the tasks is to examine the accuracy and accessibility of current devices. The other task is the revision of user centered design methods considering accessibility in aspects of the game design and gamification. The research is based on the revision of previous methods, their critical analysis and the definition of application barriers. Based on this examination and revision, a new method should be developed which is suitable for the expected accuracy of interaction devices and the application of accessibility aspects from the beginnings of the design process.
