Az ODT egyhangúan támogatja a disszertációk elektronikus közzétételét és azok egy egységes adatbázisban való kereshetőségét, azzal a feltétellel, hogy 2 évre titkosítani lehet egy-egy munkát, amennyiben a szerző érdeke azt kívánja . Az ODT nem szankcionálja azt, aki nem akarja az adatbázist teljesen feltölteni.
