A Nyelvtudományi Doktori Iskola vezetője 2012-ig. Széchenyi Professzori Ösztöndíjban részesült. 2002 és 2006 között dékán volt: megszervezte a Veszprémi/Pannon Egyetem Bölcsészettudományi Karát. Számos hazai és nemzetközi kutatási projekt vezetője és közreműködője, például jelenleg az „Intercultural Relations within and beyond Borders – as a Problem for German Studies” című, 13097-2007-IVF számú nemzetközi projekt vezetője.
